MILESTONES

1975

Decorative products were first produced in a small house in Shukrabad, Dhaka.

1977

Mild steel tubular furniture was introduced into the Bangladeshi market which was propelled by a shift to a larger workshop at Topkhana Road under the name ‘Art in Craft’.

1978

OTOBI was brought into existence with the launch of the first showroom in Elephant Road.

1981

Chair production began and a plot was allotted by the government in Mirpur.

1982

Tubular furniture was added into the production list.

1983

A 75,000 sq. ft. factory was setup in the allotted plot.

1984

OTOBI came to be recognized as a Private Limited Company.

1985

A second land was awarded by the government in Shyampur.

1993

A showroom was setup in Dikusha, the commercial hub of Dhaka.

1994

A 100,000 sq. ft. factory was setup in the second plot along with the very first international export to Ukraine.

1997

A second showroom was launched in Uttara, Dhaka.

1998

The very first exclusive dealer was launched in Chittagong.

1999

Otobi introduces laminated board with complete knock-down panel furniture – the first in Bangladesh with the opening of another showroom at Gulshan, Dhaka.

2003

Showroom at Panthapath is launched.

2004

Starts producing wooden office and home furniture and a second showroom is launched at Gulshan.

2005

Chittagong market is accessed via the establishment of a showroom in Agrabad.

2006

A corporate office under the name ‘OTOBI Centre’ is launched at Gulshan.

2007

Establishes ties with the Indian market through distributors and dealers and continues to penetrate into the local market through opening of Sylhet, Nasirabad – Chittagong and Dhanmondi – Dhaka Showrooms.

2008

Home décor productions begin along with the opening of 2 showrooms in Mirpur and Khulna.

2009

Manufacturing unit is set-up and Wooden Door, Plywood, Mattress and Foam are launched at Savar – a city in Bangladesh. An additional four Showrooms are opened at Wari, Malibagh, Savar and Bogra.
